Zambia, which is located in Central Southern Africa has an area of approximately 752,614 sq km (290,586 sq miles) and has a population of around 11.5 million (2005) of which approximately 1 million are based in Lusaka the Capital city of Zambia. Zambia is a land locked country bordered by Angola to the west, Namibia to the south west, Botswana to the south, Zimbabwe directly below Zambia to the South, Mozambique to the south east, Malawi to the east, Tanzania to the north east and Zaire to the north.
Zambia is one of the most peaceful countries in the world, having regard to the fact that most of its neighbours have experienced wars.
Amongst other things, Zambia’s main attribute is that she is blessed with a friendly, hospitable and welcoming people.
LANGUAGE
English is the official language with over 73 tribal dialects. The main dialects being: Lunda, Bemba, Lozi, Tonga, Kaonde, Luvale, Nyanja.
RELIGION
Over 70 percent of Zambians are Christians, and as a result Zambia has been declared a Christian nation. There are a minority of traditional believers and other religions.
